Classic film
Review a classic Film.
I enjoyed the movie It Happened One Night. This
movie is an American romantic comedy, that was created in 1934 by Columbia
Pictures as a small budget film.
In those days, the film’s plot
looked fresh and up-to-actual. People started to talk about relationship
between man and woman, and this love story was perfectly integrated in movie It
Happened One Night. The daughter of a millionaire father who runs away from her
father because he doesn’t agree with his daughter’s marrying of a pilot and
fortune-hunter King Westley. In her way to New York, she meets passenger Peter
Warne, a newspaper reporter who recently lost his job. Soon, Peter recognizes
the rich daughter and gives her a choice. If she gives him an exclusive on her
story, he will help her reunite with her groom. If not, he will tell her father
where she is. Ellie agrees to help. Then, they start their way, but soon they
understand that they are full of love. Believing Peter has deserted her, Ellie
telephones her father, who agrees to let her marry Westley. On the wedding day
at the last minute, just before she says, "I do", she decides to run
away and join her beloved newspaper reporter, who didn’t leave her.
It Happened One Night was the first
film that won the "Big Five" Academy Awards (Best Picture, Best
Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Writing). Many film critics think
that success came through picking crowd-pleasing stars. I think this film pays
attention because of simply scenes that focused on a dialogue between main cast
members. During the whole film, actors don’t change their outfits and
hairstyles. The director doesn’t show us a variety of expensive locations that
helps focus on the plot and actors' lines.
